| Beschrijving voorzijde | The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock in a lake, the eagle grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. The device is encircled by a garland of oak and laurel branches tied at the base. The curved legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs across the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering against a deeply mirrored proof field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Part of Mexico's long-running "Estados de la República Mexicana" series, which ran from 2004 to 2007 and dedicated a coin to each of the country's 31 states plus the Federal District. Quintana Roo, carved out as a federal territory in 1902 and not granted full statehood until 1974, was among the last states admitted to the federation — a status reflected in its relatively late position in the series.
The Casa de Moneda struck these in limited proof runs, primarily for collector distribution through Banxico and overseas numismatic distributors.
