The Banco de la República issued this denomination continuously across nearly two decades, a span that encompassed Colombia's troubled period of rural insurgency and the early consolidation of the FARC and ELN. The long print run means serial number blocks are widely spread, and several distinct signature combinations exist across the series — collectors tracking by signatories can identify at least six meaningful varieties within P#407 alone.
By the late 1970s, 10 Pesos Oro had become a largely transactional note with minimal purchasing power remaining. The series was retired as part of the 1980 currency restructuring that eventually led to the introduction of the Peso as a decimalized unit stripped of the "Oro" designation.
