The Banco Central de la República Dominicana was itself a recent creation when this note entered circulation — the bank was founded in 1947, replacing the currency board arrangement that had governed Dominican monetary affairs since 1947 under the Trujillo regime's reorganization of public finances. These early ABnc-printed issues were the first notes bearing the new institution's name, making the 1947–1949 series the bank's inaugural output rather than a continuation of an earlier series.

American Bank Note Company production from this period is generally consistent in quality, though the Dominican issues of this run are known to show some variance in ink saturation across individual print batches.
