| Obverse description | The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock in a lake, grasping and devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The eagle is rendered in high relief with finely detailed feathering, characteristic of the proof striking. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the base of the device. The curved legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering against the deeply mirrored proof field. |
