Obverse description	The Dominican Republic coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a cross, flanked by laurel and palm branches and surmounted by a ribbon inscribed DIOS PATRIA LIBERTAD, with a further scroll at the base inscribed REPUBLICA DOMINICANA. The legend REPUBLICA DOMINICANA arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by five-pointed stars. The date 2000 appears below the arms, with the denomination DIEZ PESOS along the lower rim between two stars. The weight 3.136 grs. and fineness .9999 are inscribed on the left and right fields respectively.

Reverse description	A detailed three-quarter perspective view of the colonial church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The building complex features a polygonal stone tower with arched windows to the left, a central nave with a barred entrance, and a domed bell tower with classical columns to the right, faithfully reproducing the historic colonial architecture of Santo Domingo. The curved legend IGLESIAS COLONIALES arcs along the upper periphery, while NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL CARMEN curves along the lower portion of the coin, completing the identification of the depicted monument.
