Part of Mexico's long-running state series, the Jalisco issue commemorates one of the country's most economically and culturally significant states — the origin of tequila's commercial production and the birthplace of mariachi. The Casa de Moneda de México launched this collector series in 1998, eventually covering all 31 states plus the Federal District across several years of annual releases.
KM#749 was struck to proof standard at the Mexico City mint, which has operated continuously since 1535, making it the oldest operating mint in the Americas.
