Beschrijving voorzijde The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting the royal palm tree between two mountains within a shield, surmounted by the Phrygian cap on a staff above a rising sun, with an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right tied with a ribbon. A curved legend reading 'REPUBLICA DE CUBA' arcs across the upper portion of the coin. The denomination '10 PESOS' appears below the arms, while the silver fineness 'AG 0.925' and weight '28 G' are inscribed in the flanking fields.

OLIMPIADA' arcs across the upper field, while 'BARCELONA 1992' curves along the lower field, referencing the XXV Summer Olympic Games. The issue year '1990' appears to the left of the central motif, rotated 90 degrees. The overall composition combines clean lines with bold relief to emphasize the sporting theme.

Aanvullende informatie

Cuba's commemorative silver program of the late 1980s and early 1990s was largely export-driven — these pieces were struck for hard currency sales abroad rather than domestic circulation, at a time when the Cuban peso was inconvertible and the state needed foreign exchange. The 1990 sports series fed directly into that calculus, timed loosely around continued Cuban dominance in amateur athletics following their boycott of the 1984 Los Angeles Games and participation in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where Cuban athletes took gold in boxing and judo.

Pieces from this program were distributed primarily through European numismatic dealers and the Casa del Coleccionista in Havana.
