| Additional information |
Mexico's 10 Peso silver coinage of this type had been running since 1955, but the 1956 date is the final year of issue, and mintages dropped sharply relative to earlier dates in the run. The series was effectively displaced by the broader debasement decisions that would, within a decade, remove silver from Mexican circulation coinage entirely. Pieces from 1956 saw relatively limited circulation before hoarding pressures — driven by silver's rising bullion value — pulled them from everyday use.
