| Obverse description | The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus and devouring a serpent, as prescribed by the national emblem. The eagle is rendered in high relief with finely detailed feathering, consistent with the proof striking quality. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the base of the device, tied with a ribbon at the bottom. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS curves along the upper periphery in bold Latin capitals against the deeply mirrored proof field. |

To the left stands a portrait of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, the celebrated priest and father of Mexican independence, rendered in profile. In the lower right, the monument of El Pípila — the heroic miner of the War of Independence — is depicted. The denomination $10, the mint mark Mo, the year 2006, and the state name GUANAJUATO are inscribed within the field, completing the composition of this issue from the Mexican States commemorative series. |
