| 裏面の説明 | A bold left-facing draped bust of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara occupies the central field, portraying him wearing his characteristic beret with long hair flowing to the shoulders and a short beard, rendered in a realist engraving style. The name ERNESTO CHE GUEVARA arcs along the upper periphery, separated by bullet points. To the lower left, the mint year and the inscription PLATA FINA appear, while the commemorative dates 1928-1988, the weight designation 1 OZ., and the fineness mark 0.999 are distributed around the lower periphery, each element separated by raised bullet points. |

Cuba issued this series across three years as part of a broader hard-currency commemorative program — coins struck not for domestic circulation but explicitly for foreign exchange, sold to collectors abroad to generate dollars the Cuban economy desperately needed. Guevara himself was executed in Bolivia in October 1967, and by the late 1980s his image had become one of Cuba's most bankable exports, a commercial irony that would not have been lost on him.
