| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of the Dominican Republic is centrally displayed in the field, with the country name arching above in the legend. Below the arms, the weight, date, denomination, and fineness are inscribed in a horizontal arrangement, separated by star ornaments. The legend and subsidiary inscriptions are rendered in capital Latin letters. The overall design is characteristic of a proof-quality commemorative issue with a mirrored field. |

Issued as part of a Dominican commemorative series documenting the country's colonial religious architecture, this piece honors the Capilla de San Andrés, one of the earliest Christian chapels constructed in the Americas. The chapel dates to the sixteenth century and stands in the Cibao region, its survival through centuries of earthquakes, hurricanes, and political upheaval making it an unusually durable remnant of early Spanish colonial presence on Hispaniola.
The .999 fine silver specification at this weight places it firmly in the small-format commemorative category — produced for collectors rather than circulation, with mintages kept deliberately limited.
