| Obverse description | The obverse displays the Mexican national coat of arms in high relief against a mirror-polished field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock in a lake, devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The eagle's wings are spread and its plumage is rendered in fine detail consistent with the proof technique. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the lower portion of the device. The circumferential legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper rim in raised Latin lettering. |
