Opmerkingen

Cuba's Foreign Exchange Certificate system was designed to capture hard currency from tourists and foreign workers while keeping dollars out of ordinary Cubans' hands — possession of US currency remained a criminal offense until 1993. The "C" series, distinguished by a round overprint on the face, circulated in parallel with the convertible peso and the regular peso, creating a three-tier system that generated both confusion and a thriving black market. The round "C" variant is generally considered scarcer than the angular overprint issues.

Státní Tiskárna Cenin in Prague handled much of Cuba's security printing throughout the Soviet-aligned period, a relationship that persisted well into the 1990s.
