| Reverse description | The coat of arms of the State of Baja California Sur is centrally displayed within a shield-shaped cartouche, featuring a large scallop shell at its centre flanked by four fish arranged at the cardinal points of the shield's interior, symbolising the state's maritime heritage. The legend ESTADO DE BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR arcs along the upper and lateral periphery in raised Latin capitals, with the date 2005 inscribed at the top of the inner field above the shield. The mintmark Mo appears to the lower left, and the denomination $10 is inscribed at the base. A decorative beaded border encircles the entire design. |

| Additional information |
Part of Mexico's 32-state commemorative series issued between 2003 and 2006, this Baja California Sur piece belongs to a program that ran the Casa de Moneda through one of its most ambitious modern minting campaigns. The series was authorized under a single legislative act, requiring the mint to produce collector-quality silver rounds for every Mexican state and the Federal District within a compressed multi-year window.
Baja California Sur was only granted full statehood in 1974, making it one of the youngest federal entities in the republic at the time of striking.
