The Administración de Hacienda y Crédito Público was the fiscal arm of individual Mexican state governments, not the federal treasury — notes issued under this authority circulated regionally and often reflected the chronic instability of mid-century state finances. The 185_ dating convention, with the final digit left blank for manuscript completion, was common practice across Mexican state issues of this period, and surviving examples frequently show dates ranging across the decade.
Printed in Argentina is an unusual attribution for a Mexican fiscal note and warrants scrutiny when handling any example.
