Corrientes issued its own quasi-currency during the Argentine fiscal crisis, a provincial bond-note program that predated the national corralito by months. The province had been running its own parallel monetary instruments — locally called "lecops" or simply bonos — to pay public sector wages and suppliers when transfers from Buenos Aires dried up. These circulated at par with the peso in local commerce, accepted under varying degrees of coercion by provincial merchants.
Casa de Moneda printed these under contract, which gave them a surface legitimacy the cruder provincial emissions of other jurisdictions lacked. Whether that helped acceptance is another matter.
