By 1984, Argentina was barely a year removed from military dictatorship and already deep into the inflationary spiral that would eventually render the entire peso monetario series worthless. These brass 10 peso pieces circulated for an almost comically short window — within two years, the denomination had been effectively swallowed by inflation accelerating toward 1,200% annually, culminating in the 1985 Austral Plan that wiped out the currency entirely and replaced it at 1,000-to-1.
