备注

Banco de Medellín was one of several private regional banks operating in Colombia under the 1880 banking law, which permitted departmental institutions to issue their own notes — a privilege that produced a proliferation of competing paper currencies across the country. The 1899 date places this note squarely within the War of the Thousand Days (1899–1902), Colombia's most destructive civil war, during which the national government's own currency collapsed under forced issue. Regional private bank notes briefly held more credibility than federal paper in some commercial circles, though many eventually suffered their own disruptions as the war dragged on.
