Chile's Banco Central was only established in 1925, a creation of the Kemmerer Mission — the American financial advisory team led by Edwin Kemmerer that restructured monetary systems across Latin America in the 1920s. This note belongs to the bank's earliest emission years, when the institution was still finding its administrative footing. The dual denomination — 10 Pesos and 1 Cóndor — reflects the transitional currency system in which the Cóndor, pegged at ten Pesos, briefly served as a parallel unit of account before falling out of practical use.
Two signature varieties exist within this series, distinguished partly by placement of the printer's imprint — either below the frame or within it. A small detail, but useful for precise dating between the 1927 and 1928 issues.
