| Opmerkingen |
Komárom held out longer than anywhere else during the Hungarian Revolution — the fortress surrendered to Austrian forces on 27 September 1849, the last Hungarian stronghold to fall, roughly six weeks after the main army's capitulation at Világos. This note was printed inside the besieged fortress during that final stretch, a product of genuine military necessity rather than any organized monetary policy. The Kormánybiztos László Ujházi, whose signature appears here, was the civilian government commissioner appointed to manage the fortress's civil affairs during the siege.
The near-square format was dictated by available paper, not design preference. Komárom siege issues are among the most historically specific emergency emissions of the entire 1848–49 revolutionary period.
