| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Arnold Machin, occupying the central field. The Queen wears a tiara and her hair is arranged in an elegant upswept coiffure. The circumscribed legend reads ELIZABETH THE SECOND, divided at the base of the bust, with the date 1976 inscribed in the lower field flanked by two raised dots. The small Pobjoy Mint privy mark (PM) appears below the truncation. The coin was struck to proof quality, exhibiting deeply mirrored fields contrasting with frosted relief. |
