| Reversbeschreibung | A naturalistic full-colour printed depiction of a Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) seated in three-quarter profile facing right, rendered with fine detail in warm orange and russet tones against the milled metal field. The animal is shown in a characteristic upright posture with its distinctive tufted ears and bushy tail curving upward behind it. The denomination legend TEN PENCE arcs along the upper portion of the field, while the species identification RED SQUIRREL is inscribed along the lower portion in incuse lettering. The colour printing technique, designed by Mike Langman, gives the composition a vivid naturalistic quality. |

Part of a broader British Isles effort to celebrate native wildlife through colourized circulation-format issues, this piece reflects Guernsey's particular stake in red squirrel conservation — the island maintains one of the few genuinely healthy populations remaining in the British Isles, isolated from the grey squirrels that have displaced the native species across most of mainland Britain since their introduction from North America in the 1870s.
