Guernsey has issued a long-running series of circulating and collector 10 pence pieces featuring native wildlife and local subjects, the butterfly issues among them. The Red Admiral is resident in the Channel Islands through summer migration from continental Europe, making it a legitimate regional subject rather than a purely decorative choice.
KM#431 was struck during the final years of Elizabeth II's reign, one of the last cohorts of Guernsey coinage to carry her effigy before her death in September 2022.
