Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, after the portrait model by Arnold Machin, depicting the Queen with a diadem and draped neckline. The legend ISLE OF MAN arcs along the upper left periphery, and ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper right periphery. The date appears in the lower exergue. The portrait is rendered in high relief consistent with proof coinage, set within a deeply mirrored field.

Aanvullende informatie

Pobjoy Mint struck this piece for the Isle of Man, which has maintained its own coinage rights independently of the Royal Mint since the late eighteenth century. The falcon series issues of this period were produced in multiple metal variants simultaneously — cupro-nickel for circulation, and silver and gold for collectors — a commercial model Pobjoy had refined into a reliable revenue stream for the Manx government by the early 1980s.

The .925 silver strikes were not legal tender in any practical sense; they were sold at a premium directly into the collector market.
