| Reverse description | The reverse presents a highly detailed, full-colour applied image of a Common Toad (Bufo bufo), depicted in three-quarter profile facing left, rendered in naturalistic earth tones of brown, olive, and ochre with characteristic warty skin texture and a prominent amber eye. The toad is shown in a dynamic, forward-leaning posture with its front limbs extended, suggesting movement over a reflective wet surface. The legend 'TEN PENCE' arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, while 'COMMON TOAD' curves along the lower periphery. The colourisation was applied by artist Mike Langman, lending the design a vivid, illustrative quality against the milled nickel-plated steel field. |

| Additional information |
Guernsey's native amphibian population has been under active conservation monitoring since at least the 1990s, with the common toad (Bufo bufo) subject to ongoing habitat protection efforts across the Bailiwick. The colourised finish was applied post-striking, a process increasingly used by Commonwealth mints to differentiate circulating-design bullion and collector strikes without altering the underlying die work.
