This piece belongs to the Royal Mint's "British Shaped Bullion" series, a format introduced to carve out retail space in the fractional silver market increasingly dominated by foreign sovereign mints. At 1/20 oz, it targets stackers who want legal-tender framing at an accessible price point — the 10 pence face value is essentially ceremonial, worth a fraction of the silver content even at spot.
Jody Clark's fifth portrait of Elizabeth II, adopted in 2015, appears here in one of its final years of official use before the Queen's death in September 2022 rendered the effigy obsolete for new issues.
