| Aanvullende informatie |
Nightingale Island is one of the most remote inhabited places on earth — a dependency of Tristan da Cunha, itself already among the most isolated settlements anywhere. The island has no permanent population, only seasonal residents harvesting rockhopper penguins and their eggs. A coin issued in its name is a fiscal curiosity more than a circulating instrument; these pieces were produced for the collector market and have never seen meaningful use as currency on the island itself.
