| Reverse description | Central field features a colourised depiction of a slow worm (Anguis fragilis), rendered in naturalistic yellows and browns with a sinuous, looping form that fills the centre of the coin. The application of colour printing over the milled nickel-plated steel substrate gives the reptile a vivid, lifelike appearance against the darkened field. The denomination TEN PENCE is inscribed in raised capital letters along the upper arc of the rim, while the species name SLOW WORM appears along the lower arc. The design is the work of wildlife artist Mike Langman. |
