The fish is shown in dynamic lateral profile, slightly angled, with mouth open, fins extended and tail flukes clearly rendered. The denomination TEN PENCE arcs along the upper periphery in raised letters, while the species name SALMON appears in raised lettering along the lower periphery. The colourisation work is attributed to Mike Langman, and the surrounding field retains the coin's frosted metallic finish. |

Guernsey has issued its own coinage independently of the UK since the early nineteenth century, though its pieces have never been legal tender on the British mainland. The 2023 Charles III definitive series marked the island's first transition to a new monarch in seventy years — the previous Guernsey Elizabeth II coinage having run from 1957.
The colourised salmon application is a post-mint addition, a collector variant rather than a circulation issue.
