Additional information

The Mull of Galloway is the southernmost point of Scotland, sitting closer to Ireland and England than to most of Scotland itself — a geographical oddity that made it strategically significant for centuries of Irish Sea navigation. Its inclusion in a Manx coin series is logical: the Isle of Man shares the same body of water and has maintained a distinct administrative identity from the British Crown since the Revestment Act of 1765, which transferred lordship from the Atholl family to the Crown for £70,000.
