Additional information

Jersey's Christmas Alphabet series assigns a letter to each denomination, with "Y" for Yule Log falling to the 10 pence. The Yule log tradition itself traces back to Norse midwinter customs, absorbed into British Christmas practice by the 17th century and largely killed off by Victorian coal grates — ironic, given how enthusiastically the Victorians mythologized it in the same period they made it impractical.
