The Bank of China has issued commemorative lunar new year notes for Macau since the late 1990s, with each animal cycle note printed in relatively limited quantities compared to standard circulation issues. These tend to disappear quickly into collector holdings rather than ever seeing a cash register.
The Beijing Banknote Printing House — formally under the People's Bank of China's printing apparatus — handles production, which gives these Macanese issues an unusual jurisdictional character: a Special Administrative Region currency printed by a mainland state facility.
Note the 1945 printed date in the catalog data, which is clearly a metadata entry error for this 2015 issue.
