Obverse description The reverse die (here used as obverse by convention) displays the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Osman III in the upper field, rendered in fine Ottoman script with sweeping sere and beyze elements characteristic of the period. Below the tughra, a horizontal dividing line separates two registers of Arabic legend. The lower register bears the mint name 'Kostantiniyye' (Constantinople) and the regnal year 1168 AH in stylised Arabic numerals. The entire design is framed by a dotted border encircling the coin's periphery.
