| Obverse description | Central field displays the elaborate tughra of Sultan Mahmud II, the imperial monogram rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with upswept loops and horizontal baseline elements. The tughra is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding border features a continuous scrolling foliate or vine ornament, typical of early 19th-century Ottoman provincial coinage. The coin's irregular flan, characteristic of hammered production, is evident in the uneven outer edge. |
