Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Anastasius I facing right, rendered in a stylized late antique manner characteristic of early Byzantine coinage. The imperial diadem is visible atop the head, with the draped paludamentum and cuirass indicating military and imperial authority. The bust occupies the central field of the flan, with the surrounding Latin legend partially visible along the outer edge. The portrait, though somewhat worn, retains the distinctive high-relief modeling typical of the Constantinopolitan mint during the reign of Anastasius I. The obverse conveys the emperor's dual role as perpetual sovereign and military commander.
