Israel's commemorative coin program has leaned heavily into technology themes over the past decade, but this 2025 issue marks the first time the Bank of Israel has dedicated a gold piece specifically to artificial intelligence as a subject. The timing tracks with Israel's position as a significant node in global AI development — the country hosts R&D centers for several of the largest AI firms operating today, and has made national investment in the sector a stated policy priority.
