Part of the Bank of Israel's ongoing Biblical Art series, this issue was designed by Meir Eshel and struck at the Kremnica Mint in Slovakia, which has produced the majority of Israel's commemorative gold program since the country lacks a domestic facility capable of proof gold production. The series draws on imagery commissioned specifically for each release rather than recycling existing state iconography.
Collector demand for the Biblical Art gold issues has historically been stronger in North American and European Jewish diaspora markets than domestically.
