Hasbro introduced the MEGA Edition in 2004 as a higher-stakes variant of the base game, extending the property range and adding a larger denomination stack to accommodate the inflated price points. The 10 Monopoly Dollar note entered the set as the smallest denomination — necessary because MEGA pricing starts higher and the change-making arithmetic demands it.
