| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse of this holed coin features a triligual inscription arranged around the central perforation, with no effigy. The legend 'PALESTINE' arcs across the upper field in bold Latin capitals, flanked by raised dots serving as separators. The date appears in both Western Arabic numerals (e.g. 1937) directly below the Latin legend and in Eastern Arabic-Indic numerals in the lower field. The name 'Palestine' is additionally rendered in Arabic script (فلسطين) on the right and in Hebrew script (פלשתינה א"י) on the left, framing the central hole symmetrically. The coin is bounded by a beaded border, and the overall design exhibits the clean, modernist engraving style characteristic of Percy Metcalfe's work for British mandate coinage. |
