| Reverse description | Uniface reverse, entirely plain and unstriated, struck separately on a polished planchet as part of a set of seven paired obverse and reverse uniface essai pieces. The surface exhibits high-gloss, proof-like qualities characteristic of presentation strikes intended to demonstrate the proposed obverse design in isolation. |

The Banque Centrale de Tunisie was established in 1958, two years after independence, replacing the franc-zone institution that had served the French protectorate. The 1960 coinage program was the first fully sovereign Tunisian decimal series, and trial pieces from this run exist in several configurations — uniface strikes being among the most technically stripped-down, produced to evaluate die quality and relief before committing to full production. The absence of the word "essai" on this particular obverse punch distinguishes it from the more commonly encountered marked trials.
