Beschrijving keerzijde The central field features the large Arabic numeral '١٠' (10) prominently displayed, with the denomination legend 'مليمات' (Milliemes) inscribed below in the lower field. Three naturalistically rendered cotton bolls on branching stems frame the denomination on the left, right, and lower portions of the field, referencing Sudan's principal agricultural export. The curved Arabic legend along the upper periphery reads 'جمهورية السودان الديمقراطية' (Democratic Republic of Sudan).

Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the second anniversary of Jaafar Nimeiry's coup of May 25, 1969 — officially rebranded the "Corrective Revolution" — this coin was part of a broader effort to embed the new regime's identity into everyday commerce. Nimeiry had seized power from the transitional government of Ismail al-Azhari, and the commemorative coinage program was a deliberate act of institutional legitimation.

Sudan issued similar revolution-dated pieces in 1970 and 1971, creating a short commemorative series that was discontinued as Nimeiry's political alliances shifted dramatically through the early 1970s, culminating in his violent break with the Sudanese Communist Party following a failed counter-coup in July 1971.
