| Rückseitenbeschreibung | Printed entirely in olive green using woodcut technique, the reverse is composed of an elaborate symmetrical arrangement of interlocking guilloche rosettes and geometric lathe-work filling the entire field. A large central circular medallion carries the denomination numeral "10" within a scalloped frame, encircled by the country name in an arc; flanking the centre are two large ornate rosettes bearing stylised "10" numerals, with smaller denomination counters at the inner edges. The inscription "DEZ MIL REIS" appears in a cartouche at the base of the central medallion. |

Brazil's Thesouro Nacional notes of this period were issued under the monetary framework established after the tumultuous inflation of the early Republic years, when successive coffee valorization schemes and war financing had badly eroded confidence in federal paper. By the early 1920s the government was printing domestically through Casa da Moeda rather than contracting British or French firms — a shift driven by post-WWI economics as much as nationalist policy.
The "16th Print" designation matters here: the same basic plate design was reissued across multiple print runs spanning years, and series identification depends on that print number rather than date alone.
