Obverse description Central field bears the Arabic inscription of the Sultan's name Abd al-Aziz in flowing Maghrebi script above the Hijri date 1320 rendered in Western-Arabic numerals. The design is enclosed within a raised inner circle, itself surrounded by an ornamental border composed of interlocking geometric meander motifs. The outermost rim features fine milled denticles. The overall design is plain and heraldic in character, consistent with Sharifian Alaoui dynasty coinage conventions.
