Obverse description Letterpress-printed in black on cream paper stock, the note is typeset in a straightforward utilitarian layout with two rectangular numeral panels bearing '10' at the left and right margins flanking a central text block carrying the denomination 'TEN MARKS' in large bold type. A promissory legend below states payability in coin at the Treasury, Rabaul, accompanied by a manuscript date of 14 October 1914 and handwritten endorsing signatures. A bold red diagonal stamp crosses the entire face as a cancellation or validation mark.
