| Opmerkingen |
Finland's post-independence currency stabilization was a slow process, and this 1922 series was part of a broader effort to consolidate the markka's standing after the severe disruptions of the 1918 civil war and the inflationary pressures that followed. The Finnish Government Printing Office had assumed domestic production of banknotes relatively early — an unusual degree of self-sufficiency for a young republic that had only formally separated from Russia in 1917.
Pick 43 belongs to a transitional period before the major 1926 monetary reform that pegged the markka to gold, after which this series was withdrawn from circulation fairly quickly.
