Obverse description Brown and ochre letterpress note with a repeating 'Mark 10' guilloche underprint across the central field, surmounted at the top centre by a ducal crown vignette. The issuer's title 'Herzogl. Braunschwg. Staatskassenschein' is set in bold blackletter script above the large denomination inscription 'Zehn Mark'. The lower portion carries a multi-line legal text in Fraktur script, dated Braunschweig, 15. October 1918, with three manuscript signatures of the Herzoglich Braunschweig-Lüneburgisches Finanzkollegium; denomination numerals '10 Mark' appear in orange corner cartouches within a decorative outer border.

Reverse description Brown and ochre reverse centred on a large dark vignette of the rearing Brunswick white horse (the Sachsenross), the heraldic symbol of the Duchy of Brunswick, rendered in a woodcut-style intaglio within a rectangular frame. Flanking lateral panels carry a geometric diamond-pattern guilloche underprint with large '10 M' numerals at each corner. Below the central vignette, the inscriptions 'Staatskassenschein' and 'Herzogtum Braunschweig' are set in bold blackletter on an ochre ground, with a penal clause in small Fraktur script at the foot; the designer credit 'Entwurf: Günther Clausen' and printer credit 'Gedruckt von Aug. Wehrt' appear in the lower margins.
