Obverse description Square klippe flan struck in gold, oriented as a lozenge. At center, a large fleur-de-lis rises from a decorative base, surmounted by a royal crown in the upper field. The four initials C, R, X, and M are disposed in the four quadrants around the central device, reading clockwise, representing CAROLUS REX (with X for the Roman numeral ten and M for Mark). The design is bold and simply rendered in the hammered style typical of early seventeenth-century Swedish emergency or prestige coinage.
