| Opmerkingen |
Altrahlstedt was an independent municipality northeast of Hamburg that issued this note in 1922 during Germany's escalating inflation crisis, when local authorities across the country were printing their own Notgeld simply to keep commerce functioning. The issuing body named itself after the Detlev von Liliencron Gesellschaft — a society honoring the poet Detlev von Liliencron, who had lived in Altrahlstedt and died there in 1909. Using a cultural society rather than the municipal treasury as the nominal issuer was an administrative convenience, not unusual in Schleswig-Holstein Notgeld of this period.
Designer O. Thämer is otherwise poorly documented in the Notgeld literature. Altrahlstedt was incorporated into Hamburg in 1927, ending its municipal independence entirely.
