Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a tall vertical composition framed by a monumental stone arch supported by caryatid pilasters, above which the inscription 'PLEBISCIT SLESVIG' flanks the numeral '10'. Within the arch, a coloured urban vignette shows a Roland statue on a pedestal in a town square, with the building 'Zur Börse' visible in the background and small figures and a dog in the foreground. A text panel at the foot of the design bears a German motto regarding Roland as a symbol of law and justice, with denomination cartouches '10 Mk' at lower left and right.

Opmerkingen

Tondern — Tønder in Danish — was the subject of a plebiscite in February 1920 under the terms of the Versailles Treaty, which split the Duchy of Schleswig along national lines. The city voted to remain German but found itself administratively adrift during the transition period, prompting local authorities to issue emergency notes to keep commerce moving. This Notgeld is a direct product of that interregnum.

The single Paulsen signature is almost certainly that of a municipal official rather than a bank signatory — Tondern had no issuing bank of its own at this point.
