Der Oberbürgermeister
Brühl-Gießen
Reverse description The reverse is centred on the municipal coat of arms of Gießen — a red rampant lion on a black and white divided heraldic shield — enclosed within a large circular laurel wreath with a ribbon lettered 'G-i-e-s-s-e-n' interwoven through it. Large numeral '10' underprints appear in olive-grey on both the left and right flanks of the composition. The legend 'Kriegs-Notgeld' runs across the top in bold Fraktur script, with 'Stadt Gießen' divided across the lower corners, all rendered on a fine guilloche ground.
